10,000 Black Men Named George

During the Depression, jobs were catastrophically scarce. The only job available to Black men was as porters for the Pullman Royal Company. To passengers, they were all "Georges." The company had a strict personnel policy—under miserable wages, a single (and often unfounded) complaint from a passenger was enough to get a porter fired. Philip Randolph, a Black journalist, aims to help these forgotten people at any cost. His main goal is to achieve equality, which requires forming the first Black union in America.
