Black Fury

The film is based on real events. A naive and cheerful Polish immigrant, Joe Radek, works in a mine, dreams of buying a pig farm, and is about to marry his neighbor, Anna. He is quite content with his life and is indifferent to the ongoing struggle between the union and the mine owner. However, shortly before the wedding, Anna runs away with another man. Drunk, Joe stumbles into a union meeting, where his drunken outbursts contribute to a split within the union and the beginning of a strike. Joe becomes the leader of the new union, but the strike does not succeed, and the workers begin to starve. Additionally, the police kill Joe’s best friend, Mike Shimanski. The miners blame Joe for all the misfortunes. Realizing he has been used, Joe decides to fix the situation on his own...
