Conversaciones con trabajadores / Conversations with Chilean Workers

As a counterpoint to the first film, “Chile 1973 – The workers do not participate, they are the government,” which shows the revolutionary process of the Popular Unity from the perspective of its leaders, this second production, “Conversations with Chilean Workers,” offers an image of how the social base of Chilean society—the very people to whom the revolution was directed—reacted to this unique attempt to carry out revolutionary change through a democratic parliamentary path.
In this film, residents of poor neighborhoods, metal-industry workers, peasant women, and Mapuche people talk about their expectations and their criticisms of the revolutionary process, reflecting in their comments and opinions the tensions the country was experiencing during this historical moment, just months before the dramatic events of September 11, 1973.
