Trade unions in the twenty-first century face a dual crisis of legitimacy. They are struggling not only with structural shifts in power resulting from globalization, digitalization, and political change, but also with the loss of their capacity to shape society politically. This study examines how trade unions can reposition themselves beyond traditional alliances with social democratic parties and in the context of growing transnational challenges.
