Albert Lörcher, a furrier's apprentice from Munich, was just 20 years old when a special court in Munich sentenced him to eleven months in prison in August 1933. Bertl, as everyone called him, had joined the Socialist Workers' Youth while still an apprentice . After a gang of SA thugs occupied the trade union building on March 9, 1933, he joined forces with his brother Ernst and some friends: They did not want to stand idly by while the Nazi regime transformed Germany into a totalitarian “Führer state”.After imprisonment, concentration camp detention and forced recruitment in probation unit 999, Bertl Lörcher was only able to feel free again in 1945 and finally go his own way.
