Man of Marble

Andrzej Wajda 1976 Poland
A film student, Agnieszka, decides to make a documentary about the former worker Mateusz Birkut, once revered as a skilled stonemason, but later forgotten. A man of labor, Birkut became famous and believed he could help his fellow workers, thinking that his voice would be heard. However, the government quickly silenced him, and his name was tarnished and erased from history. Agnieszka uncovers this story as she reviews old film footage, speaks with Birkut's contemporaries, and interviews members of his family.
