Pitfall

Hiroshi Teshigahara 1962
The worker and his little son goes to a mining town in hopes of getting a job there. Some jerk kills him… but the protagonist keeps living as a ghost, trying to find out who killed him, what happened to the village, and looking for revenge. In one review is said: The visual perfection and the detective element gradually get crushed under the weight of the social vector, steering the story toward ordinary workers whom the spotless bastards kill en masse, toward those who could speak but don’t, for various reasons, and toward the fools in the unions, who destroy each other instead of doing their honorable duty.”
