Power to Forge (Pouvoir oublier)
Quebec, spring 1972. The workers’ struggle is at its peak. The Common Front is mounting repeated offensives against the government and demanding a weekly income of $100 for all unionized public-sector workers... The 1972 general strike, the great moments of the “labor movement”—I’ve often seen these narratives turned into polished monuments, illustrated and emptied of their contradictions. But this film doesn’t do that. This film disarmed me. It wasn’t a calm homage or a celebration. It was doing something else: it dug deeper. It questioned. It listened.
