Quarter to Two Before Jesus Christ

Jean Yanne 1982 France, Tunis
The plot takes place in a fictional Roman colony in North Africa during the 1st century BC.

The ruler of Rome, the all-powerful Caesar, has come to relax in the city of Rahat Lukum. Local merchants are outraged by rising oat prices due to a cartel of Arab emirs and the burden of high taxes. They're frustrated because the local authorities have decided to convert the theater into a supermarket.

The anti-government protests are led by a trade union leader and auto mechanic, Ben-Hur Marcel. The riot is suppressed, and Ben-Hur is imprisoned. The film’s plot is unpredictable, and the performances by Caesar and Cleopatra are surprisingly unconventional. The role of Ben-Hur is played by the beloved French comedian Coluche
