Tage aus Glas / Days of Glass

Dorothee Krings 2025 Germany
Düsseldorf in 1901. Glassmakers across the German Empire are on strike. The workers at the Gerresheim glassworks, a world leader in bottle production, also extinguish their furnaces – with dramatic consequences. Bille, the daughter of a bottle maker, dreams of emigrating to America with her lover, Adam. But Adam becomes a strikebreaker, while Bille's family risks everything for the strike. Leonie is the daughter of the glassworks doctor and lives a life constrained by upper-middle-class conventions. The talented young woman longs for the company of the artistic bohemians, but her father has other plans. In the same place, but in different worlds, Bille and Leonie fight for self-determination and their dreams of a better life. And they must decide what price they are willing to pay for it.
