The Man in the White Suit

The protagonist of this sci-fi comedy, young chemist Sidney Stratton, is obsessed with creating an indestructible fiber. His research doesn't sit well with textile manufacturers, leading to his dismissal from one factory after another. However, he persistently continues his experiments, gaining the support of the daughter of one of the factory managers. At last, the eternal fabric—repelling paint, dirt, and wear—is created! Initially, everyone marvels at Stratton's suit made from the astonishing white material. But soon, factory owners and unions realize the invention will drastically reduce demand for textiles and clothing, threatening to collapse the entire textile industry. A frantic chase for poor Stratton begins...
