The Miners’ Film

The film documents, from inside and for the labour movement, the miners’ strike of 1974. It examines the industrial action against the Conservative government’s Phase 3 incomes policy, the miners’ historical experience, memories of the 1926 General Strike, the failures of nationalisation and the struggle over energy and employment policy. The strike helped bring down Edward Heath’s government.
