The Precariat and the New Class Struggle: Transformations of the Contemporary Working Class and Its Forms of Struggle / Przeobrażenia współczesnej klasy pracowniczej i jej form walki

Jarosław Urbański 2014 East-Central Europe
Around the world, the situation of workers is deteriorating. Attacks on trade unions, the destabilization of labor relations, the dictatorship of flexibility, and pauperization are becoming widespread. The product of this situation is the precariat—a growing group of workers employed under insecure conditions. Jarosław Urbański analyzes precaritization in historical, sociological, and economic contexts. He focuses on the forms of resistance developed by the precariat, emphasizing that although it is not a new class, precarious workers are not powerless in the face of new forms of exploitation concealed behind the façade of flexibility.
