In the early 1900s, Sulitjelma Gruber was the second largest industrial company in Norway. The living conditions for the mining workers were very primitive, working conditions hard and harmful to health.
The class differences between workers, riser and officials were noticeable. After the large meeting in January 1907, on the icy Langvatnet , the only area that the mining company did not own, the first Workers' Association was founded, and conditions gradually improved.
