The film is roughly about Norwegian political history in the period 1907 - 1963 . Gerhardsen talks about how the Norwegian Labor Party during this period grew and gained a political leadership position in the labor movement and in the Norwegian parliamentary system. He mainly talks about the labor movement and its development, but still provides some room for more personal reflections. He talks about his relationship with organizational work, about his feelings towards the national symbols, and about Lenin . In addition, he briefly comments on some key events from the period he led the country as prime minister. Here we hear about the recovery policy, the registration in NATO and the Kings Bay case .
