This is the story of the rise, between the 1930s and 1950s, of Eddie Florio, an Italian-American, through the ranks of the criminal underworld vying with unions for control of American ports. Starting as an informant and later becoming a union leader, Florio's rise was fueled by his utter lack of scruples. A cowardly yet incredibly cunning man, capable of any form of cruelty, he was a gangster who destroyed anyone in his path, including his own family and the women he associated with. He thus became a respected public figure, holding prominent positions in the Anonima Assassini, a hitman organization working for the Cosa Nostra
