작가노동 선언 / Writers’ Labor Declaration
Writers active in various genres, including poetry, novels, web novels, columns and essays, translation, reviews and critiques, humanities and social sciences, children's and youth writing, playwriting, screenplays and screenplays, reportage, comics and webtoons, and drawings and illustrations, have come together to form a "union." Beginning with a small group called the "Writers' Union (tentative)" formed in March 2023, a small group of writers have been actively working toward the launch of a writers' union for the past two years. Through serial forums, we discussed writers' labor and union activities, demanded industrial accident insurance coverage with artists' unions, collaborated with writers' groups to respond to the Aladdin e-book leak incident, published news articles on writers' labor, and held gender equality workshops. In particular, the press conference for the declaration, "Writer-Worker Declaration: Writing is Labor," and the "Paper Tearing" performance held on the opening day of the Seoul International Book Fair last June left a strong impression on many.
