Zhanaozen Diary

Galym Ageleuov 2013 Kazakhstan
The movie depicts the events that followed the bloody suppression of the strike. In 2011, I was an observer for the Kazakhstan Bureau for Human Rights and lived with the oil workers in the central square of Zhanaozen, and later attended the trials," says Galym Ageleuov. I came back to Zhanaozen two years following the bloody events. Right now, I am working on a book about Zhanaozen. I want to get to the bottom of what truly occurred on December 16, 2011, and how these outcomes influenced all of Kazakhstan. I want to understand why the authorities do not listen to the people. All I know is that authoritarianism has intensified every wrong that obstructs our country's future.
